Central Committee of the KPSS ID

Hi

The picture below is from Scrabichewski's collection.
I see that the communist party has a special ID for it's central comitee, and special stamp as well.

I whould like to know if the holder of such ID has also ID of the supreme Soviet, how many people where on the central comitee at the same time, and for how long one was elected to that organ?

The CC of the CPSU was completely different from the USSR Supreme Soviet. The CC CPSU was the legislative body of the party only while the SS USSR was the legislative body of the state. Some were members of both but not most.

As for numbers - several hundred - and time. I can't remember and did not bring any old Soviet studies texts to Bosnia. It may be worth finding an old copy of Hough and Fainsod's How the USSR Was Governed.

I have one suspicion/concern. When was this ID issued?? The CC CPSU still exists today. One faction of the Russian Communist Party still calls itself the CPSU. They still issue medals in the name of the CC CPSU today.

The stamp for this ID does not have the USSR coat of arms which is very, very odd. Maybe I am wrong but I suspect that perhaps the ID is post-Soviet.

Back in the 1970s he was Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff, and one of the few Soviet commanders honest enought to try to explain it to Ustinov that it would be a huge mistake to invade Afghanistan.

If this Gorbachev's ID is for sale then most likely it's a fake.

It's hard to imagine the reason for him to sell his Head of the Party ID, Mikhail Sergeyevich is a wealthy man. :)

I see they airbrushed the real proof that it IS Gorby... Remember his famous birthmark?!?!?

what bothers me is it is the official photo...and yes, the propaganda erased his birthmark! it was a normal practise for them...
but I don't think Mikhail sergueievitch is obliged to sell his ID...quite a nice copy, I'd love to see it in hands. One question: did the first secretary have such an ID?????

I know they existed at least for high members of the former DDR (an auction from the family of Wili Stoph, nr2 of DDR, showed a lot of genuine ID cards for CC of the party, politburo,etc...). But about CPUS? possible, but still no proof.
