Badge "System For Close Combat".

Saw this badge in Dr. Riemer's book in a section devoted to the KDS/MVR. Began looking and, after about 9 months, found one. In the book, the badge is shown belonging to a Lieutenant who is a hand-to-hand combat instructor. I am unsure of whether this badge was for instructors only or for all who qualified as riot control police. It's a great badge, and I thought I'd share.

Nice. I like the fist: that says something*. To bad it's not done in real enamel; that would be something as it has a nice design.

I thought the same as Eric when I saw the fist, but saying "(...)or the state will fist*** you":D

BTW, this made me wonder, which period is your badge? And, were earlier period badges hot enameled?

Damn, I guess I've really gotten old... I never made the "fisting" connection- ouch!:yow. To me, it looked like the old Harvard Strike fist from the '70's.

The badge dates from the '80's with the establishment of the special riot control units (no earlier badges). Oddly enough, Dr. Riemer says that "perestroika" created the necessity of the creation of these units; the people wanted perestroika but those in power did not. Hence, the riots.

I agree it would have been better in hot enamel, but it's still a good looking badge. Probably the victim of a dwindling economy more or less like many of the badges of the Soviet Union beginning in the '70's.

It´s a great design! Never saw this until a couple of days...
Is it hard to find one? Not as common as the pilot badges, no?

I just noticed this for sale today , it doesn't look quite as detailed as the one posted by Greg above. does it raise any red flags for anyone?
