Really very, very, very lucky!
Why don't we have nothing like that, at least as far as I know?!...
Maybe in the UK or Germany, but not where I live anyway...

One more show...

There's also the ASMIC show that takes place quarterly at Ft Belvoir, Virginia. They are held the first Sunday of the month - the next one will be in November. The show is about 80% US, then German, with a few Soviet bits thrown in for color. Never know what might pop up though!

Well I attended my first show today in Ottawa. It was a great event and it permitted me to meet Shawn AKA otlichnik on this forum. I must admit though that I was somewhat disppointed in the militaria show as I found the pricing of awards out of this world. Even one Chernobyl medal/badge was being passed off as a Russian police medal. So I was pretty disppointed until I came around to otlichnik's table. Well what a nice person he is. We both hit it off and realized we belonged to this forum. He had so many awards with him, and very nice ones. I ended up buying an Order of Glory 2nd class, and three others. I will post it in the fakes forum just to make sure it is fine tomorrow. And I even held an Order of Nevsky in my hands.... I had to leave it as my wife was giving me the look of... well you know that look!! Thanks Shaun for saving my day at the show.

Dannybou,

Did Shawn let you understand he had doubts about their authenticity ?
If he told you they are "real", I think you can trust in him...

If not, - and after all - you are right, two checkings are better than one. And a misjudgement is always possible...
I'm sure experts of the Forum (and amongst them, Shawn... ) will give their input.

A last word: congratulations for your finds; nowadays, it is so difficult to find interesting items in shows or markets...

Cheers.

Ch.

I have no doubts in Shawn's credibility or honesty, he even gave me a written guarantee and he knows I will be posting it in the forum.

Dannybou,

That's really a good thing to buy from people you can trust in... Very good for your peace of mind; very good for your collection; and I agree, it doesn't prevent you to check it twice.

Cheers and Happy hunting.

Ch.

PS : BTW, the manner you expressed your point could let think you had doubt... "... just to make sure..."

It's me thinking in French and translating it back into English I guess. Will you be in Montreal long?

Dannybou,

I well recognise your "French" side!! I myself try - I say try - to think in French and try - again - to translate in a bad English...
But, isn't "bad English" the best and more spoken language in the world ?...

I'll stay only three days in Montreal.

Cheers.
