Medal Ushakov.

Hello

I think this medal is very interesting. It is Soviet, from late 1980's, and has a golden colour:

No Number! and "blue" anchor.

Doug,

If you are referring to the serial number stamp, they all had them. There were no makers marks as you would find on a multiple piece order.

Doug,

Welcome to the forum.

Just a quick question, how do you determine that a medal is 1947 issue?

Hi and thanks for your assistance. Yes, the medal does have a serial number. As far as determining it was a 1947 issue, that is based on the date in the document book with the medal. That's all I have to go on.

Thanks again!!!!!!!!

Doug,

An Ushakov Medal that was issued in 1947 (date on the document book) is a W.W.II award and is no different from any other of the 15,000 other Ushakov medals issued. Since the medal was created in 1944, most were "official" presented after the war. Also, the date in the Medal book, might be just the date that the Medal Book was issued to the sailor, and not the date that the medal was issued. I'ld need to see a scan of the book to tell you.

Long and short of it is that there is no difference in the medals.

Take care,
Ed

Ed...............thanks a million. This is the first one I have seen over here in the Republic of Georgia in 10 months! As is typical over here, I am sure someone had to sell something to pay heating/electricity bills.

Thanks again.............Scotty
