Thats a coincident Tom! I was sorting out the stuff I bought what I told you about, and I found one just like yours today in a box with dozens of items. No idea what it is either ;)

The doc's real, such badge existed, altough I am not sure who got those - one theory says it was for the prison guards, but I think that they simply got for distinguish service in the VV MVD, so I don't know.

Though it is one of the better-looking and often copied styles (particularly in post-1991 FSU countries), they were not only heavily produced, but there were variations - not sure how many are authentic. Once again, now I have another reason to start photographing again.;)
