All Other Fake Soviet Medals

Hi guys,

a veteran medal of labour on E... . Made out of aluminium. Looks similar to the Medal for a veteran of Labour. Look at the end of the grip of the hammer. What do you think about it?

regards
Andreas

RE: Veteran of Labour

Hmmm ... reuse of the Order of the Red Banner ribbon, paint enamel, with some workmanship quality problems -- have the folks who created the Umalatova(sp?) medals had a budget crunch?

I'd guess that it's either a tourist-y piece of tchotchke (it's now illegal to take medals out of the country, but it probably isn't illegal to take out obvious, patently fake medals), or perhaps another example of an "alternative medal".

Andreas,

I know this badge. The small pin attached to the suspension is actually the original suspension for this medallion. :)

Just bought medal Veteran of Labor Type 2

Hello to all

I am quite new to collecting awards and medals and would seek some assistance. In this case I bought 6 Soviet medals and would appreciate if you could advise me if the medals I bought are genuine. I will post only one as if it is genuine, then the rest will be as they are made in the same way. I have checked it with the website images and it is the Type 2, but I would like to post it, if I may, just to double check with the experts in the field. this will give me a sense of direction in the future. Thanks alot.

That's a genuine Veteran of Labor medal. It's such a common, readily-available medal that it would not make any economic sense to fake it.

OK thanks. It would explain the $2 price tag then. :)

Dannybou,

Don't hesitate to post your questions, that's what the Forum is here for.

Happy hunting!

re: All Other Medals

Hello Everyone,

I have a two part question which will need to be asked in two posts. First, if you look at the main page and go under the medals section and then under medals for veteran of labor to see the different variations, you will find type 2 mentioning the medal has blued front, but the picture is not blued. If you look at type 3 it mentions without blueing but the picture has blueing, are the pictures mixed up? If so then wouldn't the picture I have attached be a type 3?

Re: All Other Medals

Thanks desantnik and can you say if this is real too?
I have bought this labour medal for 5 US dollars.
But is it real? the white in the suspension is almost grey and 5 dollars for a medal is too cheap.

Regards
