Ssh40 Helmet

Hello, I like to show you a battle damaged ssh40 helmet with a not so common insignia, almost for me....
The damage seems to be done from a calibre 45acp shot but who knows? Any chance that this helmet should be from Korean war?
Thanks for looking!

Nice looking helmet!
It'd be interesting if it was from the Korean war.

Never seen that kind of helmet insignia before. However it´s very similar to the armed factory guards (VOKhR) insignia. If it was issued to them, can´t figure how did it get that bullet hit.

I agree with you regarding the similarity with the VOKhR insignia but would it be possible an insignia painted during the korean war era? Sadily no marks or writings readable inside....

What's the colour of the helmet? It looks black-dark grey to me. It's not Naval Infantry for sure. Could be VOkhr. The bullet hit maight have been done by some weapons collector in the 90's or can be an effect of some criminal incident or Riots, but if it's VOkhr it is unlikely to have anything to do with the Korean War. And I don't belive that thatthe helmet was repainted after it was hit.

Thank you for the replies, the colour of the helmet is dark green, not grey at all.

More likely a pistol round. A rifle bullet hitting straight on like that would have penetrated unless it really came from a distance. I think someone may have been a bit bored one weekend (or a bit drunk one weekend) and took target practice with their helmet

Re: Battle Damaged Ssh40 Helmet with insignia

Neither did I, as they probably haven't worn them everyday, but...
In Poland we had our own "VOkhr" - Straż Przemysłowa (Industrial Guard) and in the electronics factory where my mother worked they were seen everyday - always wearing dark-blue caps with green bands - sometimes with the uniforms in the same "midnight blue" colour, sometimes with civilian clothes. Anyway, when the guard was dissolved in the 1989, it turned out that they had a warehouse in the factory, and there - enough uniforms for around 100 people (probably more people then ever worked in the factory and I mean all employees, not only industrial guards, of which there at best 10 working in two groups) and standard wz.40/50 helmets (an m40 variant used by the Polish Army until late 70's) painted black. Not sure if they were there on the event of war or just to protect from well-armed robbers (which never came), but it is a fact that they didn't ever wear the helmets, not even during the martial law.
Istill have one of their caps somewhere...
Anyway, if a Polish counterpart in a rather unimportant factory had them I wpould not be surprised to learn that WOchr did as well.
