Tal,

I'll do that. I know what it's like to dredge up old posts, but I hadn't realized I'd done so! Thanx for the heads up.

Guys

I don't want to drag this up but I was at an antiques fair today and a friend of mine runs a table. To cut a long story short I have a very nice collection of colonial Italain stuff and a guy was bugging me for it. He then told me something very interesting. He buys all this stuff for a big collector in Italy. This collector in Italy has an Order of Victory which was bought for him by the Italain ambassador in Moscow in the 1950's. This is different to the story of it being in Japan. He told me that he paid It Lire 40million for it at the time. I have made a deal with him. I will sell his the medals he want is he will photograph the order front and back.

If the story is true then we will have a picture of this award.

What do you all think of this story?

regards from sunny South Africa

I'll believe it when I see it. Does anyone know where to get an excellent copy of one? If so, I'm interested.

Guys

I agree that it looks like a STORY. I have asked for the pictures and lets see they arrive. If they ever arrive.

Sounded good though.

Kind regards

Munroe

Copy of Order of Victory

So called museum-quality copies are available on the market at around $2000 (xxxxxxxx has it listed at $2250).

They are made of gold, silver and semi-precious stones with proper stone setting. I've seen one and it looks awesome, even comes in a presentation box.

I have a friend who has one for sale (slightly below market price), e-mail me directly I can pass the info.

Victory order for everybody!

No reason to be upset, just look at another c. 1945 newspaper pic. of Zhykov, Konev, Rokossovsky, Malinovsky and Tolbyhin receiving the order. Cheer up, you might be next in line
