Cold War Uniform Reference Book ?

I have various sets of Soviet Uniform regulations on cds but they are, of course, in Russian, and I'm still working on my Russian-language skills. :)

My question is whether a book exists ( and, if it does, I have not been able to find it, despite a search) that collects in one volume (or more) the post-1945 changes in the Soviet military and/or para-military, security, and ministry uniforms.

I have a number of books that deal with Soviet uniforms at different periods, but nothing that specifies, for example, the changes in the Cold War era military uniforms through the regulations of 1958 onwards.

Anyone know of a book, or books, that set out this information?

Re: Cold War Uniform Reference Book ?

Here are two.

First, "Military clothing of armed forces in USSR and Russia 1917-1990s"... good pics from regulations accompanied by text and illustrations. Good book covering cold war and more. Good book, I use it from time to time.

Second, "Soviet General and field rank officers uniforms: 1955 to 1991: (land, air, border and intelligence services)" by A. Streather. Available at eBay att good price. Interesting book but IMHO the uniforms pictured are a bit sloppy at times.

Do you have any useful information on "Military clothing of armed forces in USSR and Russia 1917-1990s"? Author, for example? While it Russian, it might be worth rying to track down a copy? But without more information, there'd be no hope.

(Though my interests lie in the early GPW -- and before -- period.)

Re: Cold War Uniform Reference Book ?

Thanks, gentlemen.
Yes, I do have the Strether book, among others.
And I agree, Doug, with your observation.
The reason I have been looking for a book is so that I did not need to bother Tretov every time a question popped up! :chuckle
