Re: Sergo Arutjunovich Fidanjan.

Repeatedly fixing the telephone line..... under enemy fire of course!

One of them is for 8th May 1944 - the Liberation Of Sevastopol. One of my favourite actions as the 414th was hard in there.

Re: Sergo Arutjunovich Fidanjan, Telephone Line Repair

Liberation of Sevastopol not the defence. The tables were very much reversed when the campaign Medals were being awarded. There were no campaign Medals for any offensive Ukrainian campaigns (two defensive and a prototype offensive) until the Republic Of Ukraine established a general "Liberation" Medal in the 90's.

Almost!

It took a time for anyone to realise a state award.

http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...n-ukraine.html

In the collection is a Liberation of Sevastopol Commemorative Table Medal but it may be some time before I get round to posting Table Medals.

Re: Sergo Arutjunovich Fidanjan, Telephone Line Repair

Looks like the record card runs true.... No wave of campaign Medals.

I still would not be surprised if his actual name was Serk'o (სერკო).

It is strange how someone could be in constant action for the entire war and not rate a campaign medal.
