Ukrainian Dagger
Found this one on the web:
"Made in 1994 when Ukraine became an independent country, this dirk is the first weapon of any kind developed in Ukraine specifically for Ukrainian armed forces. Less than 1000 dirks of this style were produced and this model is already retired, making it one of the rarest contemporary dirks world-wide. Description: Black plastic handle, Anchor-shape brass cross guard, wooden sheath covered with leather with brass fittings depicting the Ukrainian national emblem (The Trident). The double-edge blade is straight , polished with marks on both sides. * The dirk is 13 in (30 cm) long, the blade is 9 in (23 cm) long and 19 mm wide. * Dated 2001 with serial number 882" Never seen one before. Any idea as to value of the Ukrainian dagger because I recently bid for one.
I think it went for about $300. Cheers Keith |

Ukrainian dagger
Keith
I have the dagger. The prices are high on these daggers. I see one for more than $700.00 and one for $495.00 for sale now. I purchased my for $290.00. I think this dagger is realy rare (less than 1000 daggers produced) Eric. |

Guys,
I am probably being my usual skeptic again, but don't you think that in a couple of years they might flood the market with thse. We've seen that happen before with limited edition medals. Alexei |

Alexei,
You might be wright. Anything can be with daggers or medals. Prices can go up and down. I have a small collection of daggers, and purchased this dagger for $290.00 for several reasons: it's nice to have a dagger in my collection from Ukraine (I am from Kiev); produced less than 1000 (kind of rare :) ); the same Ukrainian daggers for sale today are much more expensive (as I know only two - $740.00 and $490.00). I buy medals, daggers, etc not as investment, just because I like it. Of course, if the price on things I have goes down, it does not make me happy. I am more happy to see prices going down on items I am planning to buy. ;) Eric |

Thanks for the info but I got the final price wrong. It went for 300 Euros plus 21% buyers premium.Expensive but it looked nice.Shame there is so little Ukrainian militaria about because I collect it.
Anyone have any good links for buying Soviet parade daggers? Cheers Keith |

Eric,
I know exactly what you mean. God only knows how many times I've done that myself :) Alexei Quote:
