GPW color(ized) photos
Sorry about my long absence, but the semester is coming to an end and even with only one class to teach once a week at night, the final essays are eating away my time.
So, I was just sent this link to a long list of cool Soviet WWII photos by our forum member "tshirtlarry" and though many have been Turnerized colored from the original B&W, I think it is still an interesting view. I know this is a dot.com and the pictures can probably be found elsewhere, but Larry sent these to me and include Richie C's original avatar photo, an NKVD officer in uniform (could be MGB since there are no dates) and a whole assortment of army and navy photos of life not always under fire. Neat stuff: IMPORTANT - slip in "com" after "acidcow." and you'll be there - don't try the link as typed http://acidcow./pics/15056-world-war...r-77-pics.html OR WHO KNOWS WHERE IT WILL GO Enjoy, Phillip

Re: GPW color(ized) photos
Great photos.
Are the women holding 1903 Springfield rifles? Not Nagants... though the bolt looks like a Nagant style...

Re: GPW color(ized) photos
Darn photo-dumps! At least now the photos are unavailable...Now I know why Art made the rule about posting photos on the forum itself.
As a result of the said problem, I cannot answer any of you questions gentlemen. Eric, I do remember having the same question about that photo, however, and the first thought that popped to mind was that Trotsky was murdered in Mexico City at about the same time of the photos - but I have no other ideas on this. Yes, now this entire conversation is completely worthless...a perfect example of why we shouldn't ignore the image posting rule

Re: GPW color(ized) photos
Seeing the quantity of the images from Andrews restored link made me feel that perhaps only a few of the images as thumbnails would have sufficed, rather than ask someone to spend an entire evening editing graphics. Still, we can easily see how quickly the conversation can become impossible to follow without at least a few of the referenced images.
