An Imperial Russian Section for the Forum?

I am certainly NOT trying to create more work for Art, but...

A coment was made in another thread about a possible Imperial Russian section for our Forum. I was wondering what the thougths were on this subject.

Good idea? Bad idea? Maybe a good idea, but not right now?

I'd be interested in your thoughts and comments!

I even could suggest a member of our Forum who I believe would be a superb moderator (if he was willing!).

Honeslty, I am not sure. The forum has already been broadened beyond "awards" (see its name) to include a wide range of militaria. Can we take more loss of focus? I don't know.

I would love to see Imperial awards forum.
I have a nice collection and would love to discuss that time period.

I always had a fascination for that time period.

NO!

I am 100% agianst the idea!

This is SOVIET awards forum....

If somebody wants to create Imperial awards forum - I will be the first visitor on his forum. But incorporate such a forum into this one - is - to my opinion - very bad idea.

interesting

I don't think it would be a bad idea. There are some here who want a very narrow forum focus, not letting it grow at all. If that were truwe we would not have sections on uniforms, flags, paper, etc. Contrary to what others may thing, brining in others and expanding the forum does not lead to loss of focus, it leads to more focus with more members.

That being said, I can see Tals point; eveything we discuss here is Soviet. I would not be in favor of a warsaw pact or DDR section; imperial russian...maybe, but perhaps its a bit soon here. If others wanted it I would support it though.

On the prinicple, I'm not against an Imperial Awards Forum (the similar section in the Wehmacht Awards Forum is fascinating.... but it is very diversified in terms of Kingdoms and awards) even if I would be more interested in a Warsaw Pact Awards section...

But, not now !! It is not a priority in my mind. I think we have first to focus on developing the actual Soviet site.

Cheers.

I would bend towards Tal's opinion...but I give more explications:
I would LOVE to have infos about imperial Russia (even if it is beyond my finances and collection, and outside my personnal curiosity), it would be interesting to compare faking methodes between imperial and soviet.
I'd appreciate MORE a Warshaw pact forum since it is in my field of collection and I'm now short of reliable infos (specialy Poland).
BUT:
Art has a great deal of work and finances and technical hosting for this forum, so add another one would'n't it be a bit heavy?
This raises the question of moderators? specialists do exist I'm sure, but they must be here! for this forum we have 4-5 high specialists.
The main problem woudl be the high complexity of such a forum...
without a good number of specialists and participation, the new branches would be small and inactive compared to the main soviet forum (who is 2 years old, 2 years of capital)
why not a pool, a collaboration, a kind of webring?

I am for it, but not now.

Perhaps, if we do go subscription, we could perhaps create a greatly enhanced web site expanding into Warsaw pact and into Imperial.

As it is we touch on this already and spend a fair bit of time on post-Soviet.

However, we can only do it with more space and more moderators.

Guys,

As much as I love this Imperial stuff, my vote is "No". This area is so huge, it has to be an entirely different forum.

I, too, think that this forum should remain focused on the subject at hand. The field of Soviet regalia is already huge enough. Of course......... I think it would be fine if an occasional thread lost its way now and again. Know what I mean?
