Unusual Guards badge or outright fake?

Hi Guys, I saw this today on E. Not something I am planning on buying.

What caught my eye was the underside of the banner. What is happening there? Is this a fringed banner badge that some one has altered? No pic of the reverse was shown in the auction which would have answered the question with ease.

Hi Ade,

For me that's the fringe. Some badges have it clearer and more defined than others.
But, I don't pretend being an expert, and will let the others talk with certainty... ;)

Background of the banner on the later badges have the loops as opposed to the the stippling or flat background of the wartime ones. I have a number of presumed wartime badges and there are a lot of little variations in thickness of borders and other fine details

I agree with Jeffrey on this one. I believe that this is a wartime "no fringe" badge.
