To all:

Well, if that's the case, then he's allowing the consignee to place his very high mark auction site reputation in jeopardy.

I wouldn't worry about it too much!

The sellers profile is Private. Usually that's not a good thing.
There are fakes in what he's selling.

No one I know can make an educated descision with regard to this Slava 1st class without either handling it and weigh it or at least 600dpi scans on a flat bed scanner.

I suggest a box of popcorn and a comfortable computer desk chair to sit back and relax. Watch a bunch of overpaid people bid it into stratosphere!

I feel bad for some of the bidders though! It's usually the same un-educated people that keep buying up all of this eJunk. I'd hate to see the day they decide to part with this junk and re-sell it!

Rusty.

I've just sent him a message asking for the closeup photos suggested by Rusty, plus asking for the weight and what his guarantee/return policy is. I am not bidding on this one as I have a feeling it will go way too high for me, it is already at over $300, but for my benefit and the benefit of other inquiring minds.

Rusty,

I subscribe your post 100% buddy! :thumbsup

"It's usually the same un-educated people that keep buying up all of this eJunk."

Absolutely!!! Some of these guys that some of us know from E... must have a HUGE collection, but of just junk! And often they pay a lot of money for such junk! That's weird indeed!

Just a free piece of advice I learned from the best: ;)
A good way for judging if an interesting piece with a low starting bid is ok, is to watch who are the bidders. If some expert names are there, then it's a good sign! If only these usual un-educated guys are bidding, then it's most probably junk, or at least impossible to tell from the poor pics shown.

Guys, the "5" doesn't look right, especially when I compared it to the McDaniel book. I'm not aware of a different style "5". I can't tell from the glare, but I don't think I like the "7" either. I've got #1697, but it's locked up for comparison. But damn, that wear looks good, as well as the color of the gold and enamel.

It certainly does, that's for sure!
If it's a fake it looks indeed a very convincing one! :wow

In checking this medal with the mondvor site there is discrepencies with the tower at the clock area. There should be clock arms and I don't see any on the one up for sale. Unless it is another version or they fadded because of wear....

Numbered series for Glory 3rd Class

Can anyone inform me at what point or what numbers do the Order of Glory third Class start at after WW2 and what are the final numbers and year they were awarded?

I have been informed that there were only approx. 100,000 awarded post WW2?

Although s/n's weren't awarded strictly by s/n since they were spread across many fronts, turned in and reawarded post-war for wounds, etc. WWII-era awards exist into the 600's. Anything higher is ALMOST guaranteed to be post-war for WWII actions, although at least one of our forum members claims to have a Glory for Korean actions.
