Not sure...

If this is a re-issue, it sure doesn't match the standard way of re-numbering. If I have to take a SWAG, the engraver screwed up and decided to engrave the number at the current location.

Does yours indicate any sign of the removal of the original serial number?

A lot to say about this set.

For starters the face of the Glory II is probably the most important thing to look at it and unless I'm missing something, I don't see anything to make a call on.

The document is an abortion and conveniently obliterated - don't like it.

Finally, when I ran the s/n's on my data base here's what I got:

BM 1.354.xxx - 1 Belorussian Front
GIII 162.xxx - 2 Ukrainian Front
GII 27.xxx - 2 Belorussian Front

It is slightly possible, though highly unprobable our hero bounced around all three fronts for these awards. At a minimum I believe the set to be manufactured and the GII could be a plated GIII.

Dat,

I don't own the order its on Ebay.
From the pictures it doesnt look messed with at the top and it has a deep patina. If it was messed with I would guess it was a long time ago.

Paul,

Thanks for the comprehensive reply! I guess there are far too many question marks around this set.

Since this has developed into a fake type discussion could someone move it to the fake alert section please?

Thanks

Mark

Andreas
