Re: For Service To The Motherland In The Armed Forces Of The USSR.

The ones I researched all had lower numbers. As a matter of fact, I have yet to see research results for a Spider with a serial number above 130K.

Re: For Service To The Motherland In The Armed Forces Of The USSR.

Completely random, but this weekend I met a recipient of the Homeland 3rd who was awarded it for service in Algeria in 1982 as well as a vice admiral who was the recipient of all three classes of the order (I think I rather frightened the admiral by my over-enthusiasm at his awards...I don't think he was used to having people take note of his ribbons, let alone some American!) :chuckle

Well, only thirteen people received all three classes, so his ribbon bar sure is a rarity! Most phalerists would be overenthusiastic if they met this admiral :thumbsup

Luckily for me, I had become friends with someone he knew very well, and he was able to translate for me as well as inform the admiral about my background (to include the fact I had written an article about researching them). Interestingly, the admiral had no other personal awards aside from the Homeland orders. I really wish I would have gotten a photo with him, but unfortunately, even after the introduction, it was still relatively awkward...

Gents,

As also seen in post #106 this thread, Lt Gen I. K. Kolodyazhniy is one of the lucky 13.

With a chest full of awards like that, I'm not sure "luck" is the right word:thumbsup

Re: For Service To The Motherland In The Armed Forces Of The USSR.

In this period of devaluing Ruble, uncertainties and everything else...

A "naked" authentic 3rd Class without any paperwork, research, etc. I'd say someone should expect to get a full $500 in their sky rocket when all is well and done.

I am finalizing the purchase of a crab and wanted to get the experts opinions on it. Please see the attached photos.

I am eager to get your views and hope that it checks out. This would be my first purchase of this type!

Cheers,
Will
