For the period from 27th January to 14th February 1942 provided a spot on 15 enemy batteries, of which 6 were suppressed by our artillery fire. 2nd October 1941 during the withdrawal of the regiment to new positions with a group of fighters courageously and fearlessly for 12 hours held back an onslaught of superior forces of German-Fascist troops. Allowing retreating units to the new positions. Only after the order to retreat did he leave his occupied position. Platoon Commander, 2nd Battery Of Audio Scouts, Guards Senior Lieutenant Burlak P. S. for that in the battle breaking through defences at the outskirts of Ludza and Rēzekne replaced the commander of the battery with skilful and brave actions managed to provide reconnaissance on a group of enemy artillery and its suppressing by means of the battery of audio scouts. 22nd July 1944 making the selection and deployment of sounders before the town of Ludza Comrade Burlak had within two hours performed his work under artillery and mortar fire. His personal example inspired fighters to perform combat tasks that contributed to a timely reconnaissance and completion of objectives. As a result, for the period of one day in conditions of intensive fire exposure was the scouting of 17 enemy artillery batteries and a section of guns and providing correct fire on them. In the battle of 25th-26th July 1944 Comrade Burlak risked his life under gun and mortar fire personally working at a post warning and providing a spot on 6 enemy artillery batteries and providing correct fire upon them during a period of advance of our infantry. Artillery-Mortar fire time after time cut communication from the central station and posts. Guards Senior Lieutenant Burlak, being in the most hazardous and under fire areas, his example showed others how to repair communication and working in positions ignoring danger to life performing against enemy scouts. Thanks to his selfless dedication the main objectives were spotted and suppressed by the fire of our section. Therefore allowing our infantry to advance forward. 7th August 1944 breaking for the river Kuja the enemy fired on our protruding units. While the regiment was under rifle-machine-gun fire Comrade Burlak directed the use of combat order getting reconnaissance on 2 150mm and 10 105mm enemy batteries Worthy of awarding of the governmental award Order Red Star. Section Commander Guards Major 9th August 1944

The Army journal for 2nd October 1941 shows a very difficult situation. The first line of the day's entry is "Active German Offensive". The Army's journal also stops recording after 3rd October.
