It might just be easiest to pay $20 for an award record card by standard research, then find the citations on your own through the database.

Using the database only, the best way I can think of is to create a set of possible matches based on the combination of awards your guy received. Then you could check the date of the first award to see if it matches your order booklet. But this method would involve checking nearly every record and you probably won't be able to narrow it down to one.

Surely in one of the myriad documents that you get when you click on one of the lower left buttons (after clicking on a specific man's name) there will be an serial number somewheres? Maybe a copy of the temp. cert.?

Where do I do the latter part?

So far it's the award citation and the ukaz/prikaz. I have yet to see anything else, including a notation of serial number.

Click "Расширенный поиск" and then the drop down bar "наименование награды" on that screen to select the award.

Yeah but, in this case all I have is a name plus three awards and their serial numbers. And from what I've found there are 30+ men with that particular name. There's no way a researcher can find that info in a 20 dollar frame. That's one of the reasons I mistrust "research".

Thanks, all, for helping me with this issue!

So that's a "no", then?

Thanks. I'll give that a shot soon.

Once you click > (next) button, the result list narrows down to 2 pages. If you share names of 3 awards, I might be able to figure out which Бондарев is yours. Also, rank or DOB will be helpful.

What is your mistrust based on if you've never tried it? I can guarantee you that $20 will get you the record card and solve your questions.

Indeed, no.

A unique award combination to one person might be able to help determine which Bondarev is your guy, but remember that the database is far from complete. You don't have proof that you have the right guy unless you request the record card via a real-life researcher.

Re: Podvignaroda question

May be useful. I was looking on Podvignaroda for info on the recepient,
Зеленько Владимир Яковлевич
as stated in the order book, with the two medals shown. Got no exact match.
If you suspect a typo, for example you believe the patronimic (last part in the name) is correct, but not sure about first name and surname, go into
Расширенный поиск
and enter just the beginning of the suspect names, as shown.
The result - I found a match under
Зеленко Владимир Яковлевич
with the correct two awards.

Podvignaroda website

After a time away from hobby I checked Podvignaroda website and noticed how many more entries have been added. Tried my luck at finding entry from Voenny Bilet in my collection and was pleased to find citation for Glory 3.
Great website.

Hello to all.

Re: Podvignaroda website

Welcome back Rick!

The Podvig Naroda website is indeed a greet tool. Judging from my amount of hits the database seems to be almost complete.
