Bombardier Zygmunt Pisarczyk, 2nd Lusatian Artillery Divison, 1st Belorusian Front.

Here is a group to Bombadier Zygmunt Pisarczyk covering 1946 to 2005.

I believe he is in the centre of this photograph (going by insignia) dated 22nd May 1946 and originally gifted to Janka (for him to have this return does this mean he married her?).

His Medal "For Victory Over Germany In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" (З No.0460319) was awarded on 20th March 1946 by Commander of the 12th Lusatian Artillery Brigade Lieutenant-Colonel Dubitskij. Indicating the rank of "Corporal" which in Artillery terms is a Bombardier.

The 12th was created from the reformation of the 2nd Lusatian Artillery Division on 14th September 1945. The 2nd Lusatian Artillery Division served as part of the 1st Belrusian Front and has been claimed by many to have been the greatest Polish Artillery unit of all time (even under the hardships it experienced). The 2nd Artillery fought all the way to Berlin.

His first Polish award was a Bronze Cross Of Merits.

It was a 19th January 1970 catch up for a 12th November 1946 decree.

According to the "Polish Monitor" of 21st February 1947 "The Presidium of the State National Council at its meeting on 12th November 1946 passed for heroic deeds and valiant behaviour in the fight against the German invaders and for zealous labour of the conscientious fulfilment of duties to award:

..... 260 Bomb. Pisarczyk Zygmunt."

Medal For Participation In The Battle For Berlin awarded 5th May 1970.
Gold Cross Of Merits awarded 4th June 1986. I believe at the time he was a pathologist.

Then we move on to Russian Federation Jubilee Medals. 22nd March 1995 awarded 50th and 9th May 2005 awarded 60th. The 60th was awarded by the Russian General Consulate in Gdansk.
