Here is a rather strange object from my favourite seller on the forum marketplace. A Delegate document holder. As for what was put in it I have no idea? Passes? Booze money? Raffle tickets?........

When an individual participated in a Party conference anywhere in the USSR, they were given a mini notebook so they could keep notes from the conference. The quality ranges from nice leather to cheap cardboard. The notebook typically has the name of the conference on the cover. If it is not present now, this almost certainly came originally with a note pad inside.

We still have the same thing today - whenever I attend a conference, they hand out a little notebook to go with it for the participants.

Sounds lucky to me! Whenever I go to a conference I don't get any "freebies" maybe a few pints bought for me at the bar but usually I have to bring (never mind buy) my own drink. I suppose you could use such an item to gather the autographs of the "big boys". Got Bill Clinton's right here on the wall above the monitor along with Stephen Colbert and Ringo (Ok Ringo's not THAT political).... Don't know if any of them would be too happy to fill a Leninist autograph book though....

Anyone have any idea what time-frame these conferences took place?
