Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
Never seen a booklet like this before. No mention on mondvor website, either.
Is it a rare mirror edition polar medal award? I might buy it, if it is a rarity. Thank you sergio |

Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
I believe it has torn into two pieces and then the two pieces have been placed together at the wrong sides... Look at the crease along the middle it is not level.

I think you're right. The ink stain in the top center (when the document is open) is visible in the wrong corner in this other picture. Thank you CtahhR.

Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
Any time!
It is amazing how quickly something that seems like a totally new and intriguing piece is just a broken, damaged or modified "normal" piece. A real previously undocumented item is something with a higher value and desirability than a damaged previously documented item.

Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
Good morning.
What is your opinion on this Defense of Sevastopol medal? My first impression was bad. After some thoughts, I would give it a chance. Thank you ciao Sergio |

Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
I don't like the cast look of the front of the medal and the writing of some of the letters on the back. The "К" for example looks different.

USSR, your point is correct, and I think you are right. Better to stay away from this one.
Thanks Sergio |

Hello everybody! I've just picked up some medals for a bargain. They actually look like chocolate money and I was sure they were fake. But when I looked on the mondvor site, I saw the so called "Voenkomat" variation. Could it be that these medals actually are real? Btw, the Polar medal is 2,96 mm thick while the others have a regular thickness.

Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
I'd surely shoot the polar medal. :thumbsdown
The Caucasus Medals might be original but Caucasus#2 does not seem Voenkomat to me. But anyhow it looks good. Last edited by rocketscientist; 05-31-2013 at 04:40 PM. |

Re: Fake "Defense of" Campaign Medals
@USSR
I think they are all good. The polar defence looks like the latest voenkomat version that has never been actually awarded. But you can post better pictures of the polar just to be sure. @Rocketscientist Sevastopol looks fake. |
