Alexei-

Apparently so! I don't know why he bought what he did. He apparently bought them all for his own collection, and has since decided to sell one or two pieces. After learning that what he was offering was fake, he took pictures of everything, and it turned out that nearly everything was bad!

And yet another fake document, for sale on our favorite auction site...

Not only is the document fake, but the Gold Star with the auction belonged to Vasili Semyonovich Kovtun, NOT Ivan Mitrofanovich Zorin, who was awarded Gold Star number 5380!

Dave, please let the seller know... He may have been duped himself, as I do not recognize his name as a Soviet awards seller on E!.

Thanks,

Eric

Actually I have seen this seller sell a few Soviet things but nothing really expensive. The price is a steal @ $4,495. You are better of visiting any major dealer and getting a way more for your buck!

Guys,

And what about the hard folder that comes with it? It's to die laughing about; It says 'Грамота' of all things!

Marc,

I think the large folder is genuine. BTW, what do you guys think about the HSU suspension?

Alexei,

What exactly do you mean by "genuine"?

I agree that this large folder was produced in the USSR for presentation of some Honor Diploma, but do you mean that a large HSU document was originally given to the receipient in this type of folder without the mention "Герою Советского Союза"?

Regarding the suspension, I personally find it too sharp, too "new", with basically no apparent wear in the suspension hole, despite the weight of the hanging gold star. Otherwise, it looks pretty nice to my less educated eyes ;)

Lapa,

I haven't seen the cover of the folder, I was refering to the entries only.
