Lenin Type 5 Variation 1

Rusty,
Are sure you have a Lenin Type 5 Var. 1? McDaniel lists 21,207 as the lowest serial number for a 5.1. The number you indicated (186,898) is the lowest for a Type 6 Var. 1. Does your Lenin have a dimple on the reverse, and a Monetny Dvor mint mark? If it has a Leningradskii Monetny Dvor mint mark it is probably a Type 6.1.
A serial number of 170,202 would fit very well into the 5.1 since the highest listed my McDaniel is 188,090 (page 56).
Best regards,
Bill

You are right!

It's a perfect 5.1 I just re-read the page 56 and 57 and I got the 5.1 confused with 6....

I want to show you more pictures of award "Lenin".
You should pay attention as the edge of hot enamel around of gold surfaces burns down at melt of enamel in muffle furnace (pic. 1). Also, I want to show you how the edge of award can be grind off by a file (pic. 2, 4) and that gas-bubbles remain inside the red enamel (pic. 1, 3)

It measures 43mm in height (witht the loop) and 38mm wide.

I am not 100% sure (I dont have a book in front of me) but I just finish that chapter last night. I think it ranges from 21,000 to 190,000

Guys please correct me

Sleemanguy:

Range: 21,207 - 188,090

My Lenin S/N 170xxx weighs: 45.3 grams w/Suspension.

W/O Suspension it should be around 33.x grams

45.3 (Order) - 12.x (Suspension)

Rusty.

Man..you guys are quick! Thanks. Am going to weigh it this AM. Serial number certainly is within range. I have visually compared it to several legit 5's v1 that have been posted by legit people such as yourselves as well as comparing it to the fakes that have been posted. Noticed that there hasn't been that many good fakes posted of this type and variation which I took as a good sign. It does measure 43 by 38mm.

Ok. I weighed it today on the microscale and it was 45.9. Other than this small varience it looks like the real thing. Would you guys send it back?
