Re: Nevsky,40969,Senior Lieutenant of the Guard, Azatyan Sarkis Kirakosovich

Nevsky 40969 - Senior Lieutenant of the Guard, Azatyan Sarkis Kirakosovich, an Armenian. Commander of a battalion of the Regiment of Fusiliers in a Airborne Fusiliers.

The Nevsky in fact belonged to Lieutenant Senior Guard Azatyan, commander of a battalion of Fusiliers in an airborne regiment of the Guard (14 °, with honorary Yassy, large Romanian town) framed in an airborne division of the guard (the 6th, with honorary Kremenchug , the central cities of Ukraine on the Dnieper and the order of the red banner decorated and Suvorov). Below the photo of Azatyan gained through his service card.

During the war, he received only a decoration, its Nevsky and below the quotation cited in the listing of the decoration:

In the battle for the crossing of the river Gron (Czechoslovakia) on 25.03.1945, well organized the transport of weapons of riflemen and means of support. It 'was the first to arrive on the right bank and skillfully continue the battle for the expansion of the bridgehead.
On 28.03.1945 in the battle for the city Shurany (Czechoslovakia) has prompted the battalion, capturing the eastern half of the city and in the subsequent 3 hours of battle has advanced towards the west, driving over the enemy.

Precisely, it was recommended by an Order of the Red Star, but at the divisional level, the transfer was turned in Order of Nevsky. The actions they see as the river scenery Gron (Hron), the second longest river in present-day Slovakia, with its 298 km and a tributary of the Danube. Shurany (Šurany) is a city nowadays instead of more than 10,000 inhabitants in southern Slovakia. Below is a view of the city today along with one of its symbols and the plaque present in Šurany which commemorates the liberation of the city on March 29, 1945, in action Azatyan which has made a huge contribution.

Below is a listing of the decoration, including information relating to the summons, together with a statement of the order of the Troops of the 7th Army Guard No. 0184-N of 06.06.1945 which sanctioned the contribution. The order is signed by the Commander in Chief of the Troops, Colonel General of the Guard, Hero of the Soviet Union Shumilov (which carry photo below).

Azatyan was Armenian, born in 1908 in Kirovakan. It was not a party member and had a primary education. He served in the Red Army from 1930 to 1931 and from 1942 to 1946 during the time of placing in the Nevsky was in the 14th Regiment of Fusiliers guard of the 6th Airborne Division, framed in the 7th Army Guard. After the war he lived in Baku, where he worked in the factory # 432 named after Stalin as head of the apparatus. Ever since its registration card together we can deduce how to Nevsky were conferred the medals for the Victory over Germany, Defense of the Caucasus and the Battle of Budapest.

In the first period in which Azatyan was found in the Red Army, between 1931 and 1932 he participated in a course called just "one year" in an artillery regiment of riflemen in Yerevan.

In the second period, during the Second World War, after the course Vistrel in Tbilisi in 1942 was transferred to the 34th Independent Brigade Rifleman in the 9th Army as Deputy Commander of a battery. In 1943 (most likely due to a slight injury dating back to the first day of 1943, as we read from the listing decoration) was transferred to Aid the commander of the headquarters for the exploration and Battalion Commander of the 390 th Regiment of Fusiliers Fusilier (89th Div. Fuc., 9th Army); here was wounded and transferred to the Hospital 4547 where he remained for about 2 months. He was transferred once cured in 1944 in the 323 th Regiment Fusiliers of the Guard (128th Div. Fuc. Guardia) where only served as an aide to the chief of the headquarters, always managing the actions of exploration. However, it was again transferred to the hospital after 3 months, where he remained for 7 months. Once back in the army in 1331 and active Regiment Fusiliers (318 ° Guards Rifle Division in the Army Coast Independent) served as the Commander of a Battalion of Fusiliers until February 1945, was moved in reserve for less than a month and then took up the same position as before, but in the 108th Rifle Regiment of the Guard (36th Div. Fuc. Guarida, 2nd Ukrainian Front) before and in the 14th Regiment of Fusiliers Avio-carried Guard (which we already know from the quote) later. Was finally put in reserve in September 1945 and discharged in October 1945 for the reduction of the structure of the Red Army with the rank of Senior Lieutenant of the Guard and as a commander of Battalion of Fusiliers.

The identity cards reveal other curious details like the fact that Azatyan was married and had a son (named Garry!) And that before the war was a technician, he attended Polytechnic Institute Yerevan (capital of Armenia).
