Russian GPW tank helmet

On the Internet I saw a picture of a Russian GPW tank crew (see picture). All of them are wearing tank helmets but just one of them is wearing a tank helmet which is providing with a headphone.
On the picture I do not see a microphone. Can I conclude from that, that there was no microphone fitted to the tank helmet but directly to the radio?
If so, how does this hand microphone look like? And how does the headphone look like? I was searching for pictures but I could not find one.
I know that this type of black/grey canvas tank helmet was used during the war but until when was it manufactured?

If I could interject some humor (and maybe date myself), they look like they should be on the cover of a DEVO record album.

Very funny, especially in the light that this particular crew heroically died in 72 hours after this picture was taken.

Re: Russian GPW tank helmet

I guess this helmet in some slightly different pattern was used for sure till the end of the USSR , maybe even still today.
i have seen many green ones of this later period.

the 2 piece construction makes sense since the microphone must have been the more expensive part of the 2.

the picture is a cool pose , it seems not the highest in rank was wearing the headphone. the person to the left has collar taps.

Wish that happened to DEVO.

Re: Russian GPW tank helmet

Thanks for the replies but does someone know where I can find pictures of the micro- and headphone? I also like to know until when this tank helmet was manufactured.

Off-topic DEVO slamming.

Hey, I'm a long time fan who has actually seen them in concert many times. In fact the slogan "Duty now, for the future!" has a rather soviet ring to it, don't you think?

Microphone and headphone comes with the tank not with the helmet. So they where different depending on the model of the tank and tank’s radio system. This picture also serves to answer your question why only one member of the crew had headphone. There was no intercom system in the tank. For example tank commander was telling tank driver what to do by topping him with his feet on shoulders or back.
