Shawn,
I have seen an issued one with both stamps, which doesn't mean of course that they all have to have two stamps. Alexei |

I found an interesting picture in which a Russian soldier has the Soviet Honorary Badge "To Warrior Internationalist" on the right side and a mixture of Soviet and Federation awards on the left side. He has the Medal "From the Grateful Afghanistan People" mounted with a five sided suspension. I guess this shows a good mix of Russian Federation bravery awards, including Hero of the Russian Federation, with bravery awards from the Soviet Union, including The Order "For Personal Courage".

What is this?
First I should thank everybody here who has helped with my "is this real?" or "what the heck is this?" posts of late. I hate asking these dumb questions; it makes me look like a total rube. But I have no where else to turn. I salve my conscience by contributing monetarily to the forum but it still bugs me that I ask such questions. Anyway....what the heck is this award booklet? :)

The document is real, however I don't believe it to be officially filled out. When this occurs there should be a ubiquitous circular stamp. The only ones I'll go for nowadays have a Dari/Pushto stamp and not a common Soviet voenkomat stamp which can be easily produced.

An Afghan medal doc with no stamp is almost guaranteed not real. I personally won't touch an Afghan medal doc with even a Russian circular stamp since in Kiev I saw several blank documents with a round, Russian stamp waiting for any name to be added. I have two filled-out documents (one of which I know is real since I received it from the veteran himself), both with the circular Afghan stamp (in Pushto/Dahri?) pictured above. Unfortunately, I cannot provide a scan since I and the documents are on different continents.
