Table Medal "Soviet Railways".
not positive that this find fits under the badge category, but at the same time it doesn't seem to be a medal either.
i recently picked up this 60 mm diameter item. It appears that it is made of brass or brass alloy. It came with a white paper and red felt box, but without any documents. The front has the designer name in the lower right edge of the circle (can be seen in pic). The back has the date 1975 and a symbol that i can't seem to make out. I would be interested in knowing what the signifigance of this badge/medal/award is and what it's value might be. any information or background would be greatly apprecaited. |

This is not an award. This is just a Table Medal dedicated to Soviet Railroads.
You can buy the same medal on eBay between 30-45USD I collect Rairoad awards. I have this medal in my collection. It's not an award, but it's nice. Eric |

Eric - Thank you very much for the information. So it is classified as a Table Medal. Why would someone have such a medal...or was it more something of a souvenir than something given out to somebody for a purpose?
Do you happen to know what type of metal these are usually made out of? Is there any sort of guide to the different types of Table Medals? i find it a very nice and interesting medal and would like to collect more of them. Nathan |
