KGB Visors
Hey guys,
I've been browings epay for some KGB stuff, found a visor and I've been wondering if it could be authentic before I even think about getting it. Then again the same seller also has a Russian Presidential parade uniform, it is so bloody beautiful I nearly clicked buy it before I realized it was 1500 dollars...scary... But anyways, I'm not sure if this is fantasy or not. |

Re: Authentic KGB cap?
Two possibilities:
1.It's altered Aeroflot cap. 2.It's one of those myserious KGB/militia caps - they DID show up in the last days of the Soviet union and they look like militia caps with just an exception for the KGB royal blue band and piping, but noone's sure what are - some say it's KGB investigation division, others that it's airport security militia squads... Who knows? they show up in either white or militia gray crown and always have militia badges. |

Re: Authentic KGB cap?
95% certain that it is Milicia (by the way, soon to be renamed Policia, as of 1/1/2011 :D)

Don´t know Lonny. You should ask for a picture of the inside, and/or try to find another source that has the same cap -if real- with the original cord.

Re: Authentic KGB cap?
I don't like the cord of this cap. It is not golden, but faded yellow thread.

Re: Authentic KGB cap?
The cord is definitely post-soviet...

Re: Authentic KGB cap?
I agree with Esteban. I'd like to see the inside of the cap. I've never seen a "summer" white KGB cap (or uniform) in any reference or other photos. That doesn't mean they didn't exist, it just means I'd do more research before even considering a purchase of this type.
Don't think I'm going to go out and bid on it, but just out of curiosity, what's the seller asking for this highly questionable cap? Phillip

Re: Authentic KGB cap?
For $1500 I'm sure you could get a Presidential Guard to give you the uniform off of his back!

Re: Authentic KGB cap?
I can guess the insides, as I had those caps in my hands - transparent plastic diamond with nothing on it, as found on replicas from ukraine, but also on some around1991 caps of services other than the Army and a small label in the inside of the cap giving the factory name, cap size and, possibly a production year around 1990-1991. Which means that they are either fantasy or some very late soviet issue.

Re: Authentic KGB cap?
I have an almost identical hat. 1992 dated, Zarnitsa diamond label. I thought I had some hard-to-find KGB hat but I am told that after the collapse, for a brief time the militia uniforms split into 2 branches: the legal/judicial branch and the policing branch. The police kept the same red band and the judicial personnel went blue band. You might want to verify this but it appears to be correct. I cord looks wrong to me, like yellow thread though, which you could always replace. Hope this helps.
