Award Recipient Stipend Coupon Booklets.

Hi there
Can anyone help with these. I got these coupon booklets with a medal group, no Orders or Order book. The booklets are unnamed so I don't even know if they belong with the medals, but there is an Order book number in them.

The booklets seem to be for extra pay, one is for an extra 15 Roubles and the other for 20 Roubles a month. Were these bonuses for being awarded decorations? If so, which awards were worth 15 or 20 Roubles a month?

The rest of the medals were awarded to a Guards Captain so I guess he must have been awarded some other awards too. In fact if anyone has awards to someone with Order Book no. A 487173, please get in touch!

Anyway, I have not seen these before and if anyone can shed some light on them I would be interested.

Bye for now
McL

See MD book, Pages 386-387.

The coupons were given for owners of the medals "for bravery". To get the money, one should have show his mdal doc (Udosteverni k medali) - the number on the coupon book is the s/n of the medal doc.

BTW, I have the medal doc of the bravery medal AND the coupon book, but it's only 5 rubles per month...So maybe the 15 and 20 rubles are for other award.

Thanks Tal
I had a look at MD's book. He shows a 5 Rouble coupon book. If you got 5 Roubles for a Bravery, what were worth 15 and 20? Red Star and OPW 2nd class at a guess. Anyone know?

15-20 Rubles !

I was reading the booklet " RED ARMY UNIFORMS AND INSIGNA
1944" there it says that Order of Glory II class gives recipient 10 Roubles a month and Order of Glory I gives him 15 Roubles a month !

I keep on looking for clues !

All the best from Santa-land

WoW!!

15 Roubles for a Glory first! 20 must have been quite serious (Suvorov 3rd????) This guy was in a Guards Unit so might have got routinely a little more than regulars, I believe they got more pay as standard.

I wasn't going to bother getting this one researched as I don't have any numbered awards with it. But it might be interesting just to find out what else he got. (Ed will be pleased :D )

Transportation Coupons For Order Book Holder stipend

Transportation Kupons for Order Booklet Holder
Here are few pics of a booklet I bought in L'viv recently. It looks totally authentic to me, but I would really appreciate opinions from other members.

I am also interested to know when did the transportation privileges were abolished for Order Book Holders. Is it in 1947? If so, this mean that most transportation booklets existing now are like mine (kupons for years up to 1947 were used and following years kupons are still in the booklet). I guess book with kupons for years earlier to 1947 are very rare and more expensive.

What can be the market value of a book like mine?
Thanks for your opinions.

Transportation booklet for Order Book Holder

I just got one of these today and I'm quite happy. My document collection is really starting to expand. :D

These were issued to troopers who won certain awards and gave them some sort of free transportation. Maybe like a free bus-pass?

The item pictured below is very similar and also to the one pictured in The Comprehensive Guide on pages 387 & 388.

It's my understanding that the serial number in the a) Orders booklet or b) Medals booklet are written in these transport coupons; not the medal's actual serial number (as a soldier could have more than one award in his booklet).

Note that the Order Booklet serial number is present on only one page in this example.

Eric,
Following our meeting of the other day, I was a little curious about the coupon booklet history. I knew that I had read about it somewhere and indeed, it's in "The Guide". Page 385 states that the monthly stipend was eliminated in 1947. It also states that from 1947 to 1970's, benefits were only given to Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of Socialist Labour and Cavaliers. So in contrast to Matteti's assumption, filled out coupon booklets following 1947 would be much more rare.

More specifically, monthly stipend and travel privileges were rescinded on December 16, 1947. (The Guide, page 11)
