I'm not sure what that number on the Doc is for, I guess it's just the Doc number.

True, since there are no serial numbers on the medal, nobody can say for sure if that medal goes with that document. Oh well, I guess it's better than no document at all. Thanks for the info guys.

Oh and my wife works with a woman who immigrated from Russia about 5 years ago, so I'll have my source for limited translations. I'll ask for this first document to be translated. ;)

I have heard something that is hard to believe.

Are there any Czech official made soviet city medals (like Liberating Prague or Defending Moscow)?

Here is an example of an Moscow medal with a rim on the reverse. Any opinions to this?

regards
Andreas

Andreas,

It seems to me that Czech-made medals had a struck ring. As far as I understand, this would be one of their specificities.

Re: Translation Help

Issued 31st August 1944 by Head of the Personnel department of the 3rd Belorussian Front, Major-General Lu? (not good with the scribbly writing).

Medal "For The Defence Of Moscow" Document.

Hi,
Thank you for your interest. Today, I have a little time.
Here is the Defense of Moscow booklet.
The diploma is inside a version attributed to civilian personnel. It is dated 1944, is a first version.
In my opinion, this is the best because it is in color and the medal of Moscow is well represented on the cover.
The booklet :

Defense of Moscow booklets

Here is mine, I just got it this last week. A bit damaged but it's my first Do so....
This has a whiter interior and a more 'manilla'-colored exterior. The paper has kind of a shiny or smooth quality that I don't see on my Co or Lo booklets. Perhaps it's a function of it being a Do booklet?

Re: Medal "For The Defence Of Moscow".

Here's a nicely worn without being abused Medal which has also found its way onto a new kolodka at some point in the past.
