Thanks for this.

Here's a document for a low-numbered award.

Re: Medal "25th Anniversary Of People's Revolution".

And here are the two variations (Battushig # 42.1 and 42.2).

Variation 1 (broad numerals) shows an observed serial number range of 159 to 9116, while number 2 (thin numerals) shows a range of 10327 to 20008, so we can guess that the "line" falls around 10000.

Also a questionale type 3, on strange suspension.

Re: Medal "25th Anniversary Of People's Revolution".

Seems a little strange that #33 was issued on 12th May 1947 but this one from 25th August 1946 is #13671 awarded to Hajanirvaa Natsatij. Awards first paperwork later?

Re: Medal "25th Anniversary Of People's Revolution".

Good question. Let me check through my stacks of documents and see how the dates match up. I suspect they held back a range at the "top" for senior people. I have been told that this was done with other awards.

Choibalsan would get #1, no matter when he got it.

One German source book lists this and copies have since appeared on the market. Whether it is an official Mongolian issue or something some high-ranking Soviets made up because they wanted something sexy (Brezhnev would have put diamonds and rubies on his?) is hotly debated. Personally, I see it as a vanity production or perhaps just an invention of the European dealer community.
