Technical Director Dankwart Fehr from the Eisenacher Automobilwerk is a possible owner of this group.

Thanks, that would be a possible identification. It would certainly work in terms of location and profession. The DankwarD / DankwarT fluctuation makes him a bit of a moving target.

Here is a photo of the Rally Wartburg team, Fehr on the far left.

Seems very possible it's your man, not a common name.

Thanks, Eddie. With your help, I think we have him tracked down. I've been doing some reading about the factory - very interesting.
