Red Army Soldier Lejderman, Iosif Zaharovich participating in the Patriotic War in the staff of the 95th Rifle Regiment, 435th Rifle Division, Southern Front from July 1941 to 18th August 1941 in the position of rifleman during the Kirovograd offensive.
18th August 1941 around 4-5 a.m. while reflecting a German counter-attack was heavy wounded with a fracture to the left knee joint from an enemy shell fragment, from then he was out of action.
Invalid of the Patriotic War 2nd Group.

His Medal "For Victory Over Germany In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" JA#0384637 was issued by Vertiujeni Regional Military Commissar, Guards Major Adzeriho on 25th February 1947.

He was issued the Jubilee Medal "Twenty Years Of Victory In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" A#8508194 was issued by the Frunze Region of Kiev on 28th June 1966. The "Thirty Years" was also issued by the Frunze Region in May 1975.

Now we come to the obscurity, the "Jubilee Memorial Medal". In a rather undersized case of issue.

Awarded by the "All American Association Of Invalids And Veterans Of World War II Who Emigrated To The United States From Former USSR And East European Countries Inc.".

This was #100 of an unknown amount, not a vast number.

The association was based in and focused on Brooklyn, New York. The membership nationally was never more than a few thousand with operations outside of New York being very limited.

Lejderman settled in Chicago, where he died in 1997.
