Hey,

I found this Schaschka for offer. What do you think about it? It seems to be from1930 or '39, the stamp is not clearly readable.

Re: An original Schaschka?

I am no expert, but it looks original. The Zlatoust markings as the ones here are present on the copies from at least two manufacturers, but with other date. The better photo of the marking on the blade would help, but at least the handle looks good.

Re: An original Schaschka?

Unfortunately that are all pics I have. The blade has severe rust damage as you maybe see.

Soviet steel and rust goes hand in hand, so it doesn't need to be too much exposed to become like this. Though it looks like the master clutch cylinder of my Lada Niva...

Re: An original Schaschka?

Very late reply...
It is 1930 made and original in my opinion.:thumbsup
By mid 1930's, maybe even early 1930's, the production was simplified and the eagle/CCCP was just engraved on the upper part of the grip.
The later style is flat compared to this you show
