And that is exactly where the problem lays. Did you get the accompanying documents? IMHO, that would be the only way to confirm to some point the genuineness of the purported SN. Marc |

Re: Serial numbered combat medals
Hello,
no, but I examined them with my 10x magnification glass and wearing traces, patina, used stencil set, etc. seem to be o.k. Jens |

Re: Serial numbered combat medals
Yeah, with these you never know. But I would still like to get a hold on one of them.

Shhh, if The Baltic Mint™ hears about this they'll be breaking out their numbered punches in a hurry.

Re: Curiosities
Hello !
Another one a friend of mine has brought along from Volgograd ! It still has traces of earth in the depressions of the letters, so I think it was digged out on a battlefield area not long ago. This one was definately hit by a shrapnel or a bullet. The impact was so heavy that the suspension ring was totally ripped off the medal - a real piece of (tragic) history... but quite interesting. Re: Curiosities
That's a real historical piece.
Have you initiated research by number? I would be VERY surprised if once you found who it was awarded to you do not find their name in the state memorial website.

Re: Curiosities
Really cool. Reminds me of a famous mid-80s retirement home photo by Vladimir Rolov.

Re: Curiosities
If from what I see, the first digit is a "4", indicating a number in the #400K range, I doubt it was awarded for Stalingrad.
