Re: Fake Orders of the Red Banner

Something along the lines of "quality control" at the mint. Certain not a "D" for "Duplicate".

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Banner

The "Д" is a maker's or inspection mark (a техническое клеймо as the Russians call it). This is definitely not a duplicate.

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Banner

Hi guys,

please take a look at this Red Banner - what do you think:

is it

A) a regular, early Red Banner?
B) a fake made of a late Red Banner converting it into a screwback and by changing it`s serial number?
C) a re-conversion from a 1943 altered, genuine screwback piece?

I`m quite uncertain...

With best regards.

I like it but I understand your concerns. The serial number is not completely consistent with the orders I have on file in this range. The shiny reverse is probably the result of heavy polishing but it looks different.

Anyway, I would buy it so I think it's ok.

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Banner

Hi USSR,

thank you very much for your opinion. The shiny finish on the reverse made me suspicious indeed. It comes with the order booklet, containing a nice photograph of the recipient. He was an infantry company commander and got it for personally destroying a German tank with crew, thus leading two companies out of a full enemy encirclement. A very nice story, I think.

With kind regards

Soviet Order of the Red Banner

Hello everybody, thought id start with the easy ones i have found- i realise one of these is a earlier screwback & the other 2 are later with the pin & hooks- how do they fluctuate so much in price? Is it a case of finding out who they where awarded too? How do I do this if so? My Russian is terrible! Is it age related? I have tried to look through various dealers/auction site's etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, ill attach pics of what I have found.
