During battle in the region of the settlement point of Lamm, Austria, the deployed weapon was situated with Comrade Popov, 13th April 1945 opening fire point-blank at counter-attacking enemy infantry, crashing 2 armoured transports, as a result of which supporting units successfully captured them.
During the same battle, under strong enemy artillery shelling, were injured the gun commander and gunner, Comrade Popov replaced the gunner continuing to keep accurate direct laying fire on counter-attacking enemy infantry.
During the same battle he destroyed up to 50 Hitlerites.
During the following offensive battle Comrade Popov worked as a gunner showing examples of conducting direct laying fire, where he showed boldness, durability and courage.
