Re: For Bravery,0181761,Senior Driver,56th Guards Mortar Regiment,Stalingrad

Senior Driver of the Management Of The Regiment Guards Sergeant Kravets, Aleksandr Makarovich.

10-01-1943 in the region of Height +3.0 through heavy artillery fire was disabled two transport vehicles, supplying ammunition. Comrade Kravets under enemy fire during the day restored the vehicles, thereby allowing the performance of combat tasks.

1913 year of birth, Ukrainian, Non-Partisan, Called to the RKKA by Luben Regional Military Commissariat, Poltava Oblast.

Reading through the rest of the Prikaz, locations mentioned include the Stalingrad Tractor Factory. The 56th Guards Mortar Regiment (BM-13s - Katjushas) were right in the middle of it. Crushing the last of the German resistance with their rockets. The ammunition on those transports would have really gone bang if they were hit by artillery.
