Title Of Distinction "Honoured Worker Of Rail Transport".

Here is the completely overlooked Bulgaria Title Of Distinction "Honoured Worker Of Rail Transport". Founded by the Presidium in the early 1950's (probably 1952), it was the very highest award for railway workers.

A very rarely awarded (count on fingers and toes) Title that is considerably heavier and integral than these pictures indicate.

It is interesting to note the flag flying over the train as it is not the flag of Bulgaria (although there may have been some wishful thinking).

This particular piece from the collection is heading almost directly for public display at a British National museum.

The train track border around the top is a nice touch.

Whereabouts is the museum its being/will be displayed at? If they'll have these im intrigued too see what other goodies they may have!

Re: Title Of Distinction "Honoured Worker Of Rail Transport".

A city named York you may have heard of. They have a National Railway Museum there.

I'm piling up Railway awards (and awards/groups to railway workers) for a display. Quite the array. There are other high end Bulgarian Railway awards I will be posting in the new year but none of them as "high end" as this one.

I still haven't worked out the Class of this Locomotive. I believe it's a German built passenger locomotive. 2-6-0.

I shall take my dad to see it

Re: Title Of Distinction "Honoured Worker Of Rail Transport".

After years of negotiation with various contacts and governmental departments I am now able to research Bulgarian awards and where better to start?

Decree #332 awarded a total of 23 of these Titles (it may have been the only time this Title was awarded as it was soon replaced with a Ministerial level award).

Decree Of The Presidium Of The National Council
For awarding of the Title "Honoured Worker Of Rail Transport" to transport workers.

Awarded with the Title "Honoured Worker Of Rail Transport" are these workers and employees of departments of the Ministry Of Transport.

1. Zhelju Tsvjatkov Zhelev - Head of the office of Locomotives under the Railway Department of Stara Zagora, awarded with two Silver National Orders Of Labour and the Order "9th September" II Class - For Long term faithful service and good leadership of the depots in the region of the department.

Very nice to have a research confirmed award #1 in the collection.
