1862 Ambrotype Photo ID\'d Civil War Soldier w Muster Card & AURORA RIFLES Banner:
$2295.00

Original 6th plate ambrotype in full case, showing Gustavus Aucutt
with an \"Aurora Rifles\" banner over his shoulder and holding what is
probably his Civil War muster card. He is identified inside of the case
as \"Gus Aucutt\".Aucutt volunteered for the war in 1862 and joined the 124th Illinois
Volunteer infantry. This photo was very likely taken on the day he
volunteered.According to his bio (see sale photo #2), he was the third man over
the wall at Vicksburg, and was with Sherman on his march to the sea.
I\'m sure a lot more info can be found online.Ambrotype is in excellent condition. I see a couple of very tiny mat
abrasions. It\'s housed in a union case (Farm Boy theme, which is very
appropriate if you read Aucutt\'s bio) that is in very good vintage
condition overall with some light edge/corner wear.
