Original Civil War M1860 Cavalry Sword and Scabbard with very desirable 1861 production date. Has the original wire and what is left of the original leather wrap with places worn down to the wood from service. The brass hand guard and pommel have a matching patina with a slight bend to one of its branches. The pommel has military inspector initials stamped on the right side. The blade is full length with a nice point. Has very minimal nicks more felt than seen. Has the Ames scroll maker mark on one side and a perfect US / Inspector Initials / 1861 date on the reverse. The scabbard is complete with the throat and both mounting rings. Has the Ames inspector initials J.H. on the drag. Has what's left of a protective coating in places. Mentioned for accuracy. Has kept the sword beautiful! A great workhorse example that survived in great displaying condition. Please see all photos.
