Absolutely stunning Edo period (circa 300 years old) Samurai\'s menpo of very good quality andcondition. This item would have belonged to a Samurai from Edo period, a very expressive mask. We cangauge theperiod orconstruction to be betweenEarly to Mid Edo period and considering the age the piece is in nice condition, with a nice patina. The expression is very pleasant, with a tall nice and nicely done moustache. You\'ll note how part of the moustache continues from the nose plate onto the cheek plates, and the ears have nice small rivets. Inner lacquer is a dark rich red, some of the lacquer flaked off but overall in good condition. The throat guard is made with iron plates covered in a brown leather finish. This item is highly recommendedThe bindings are in reasonably good condition for the age and all that\'s needed is to find a displace place to set up and enjoy a lovely piece of history.
