This is an old CVC Helmet-DH-132 by Safetech. The size is large.

I dragged this helmet around for over 10 years while assigned to Bradley Fighting Vehicles units from before Desert Storm to my final assignments to Brigade and Corps Staff in 2003. This group got retired, like me and has been stuffed in a footlocker since then.

Looking it over, the liner is not original. I remember having to replace it around 1997, as it wore out over the years of use. The current liner has dried out and shrunk a bit (or my head got bigger).The Velcro tape is loosening from the inside top of the helmet which holds the liner in place. My wind and dust goggles are still attached. I have blackened out my name on the front of the CVC, but will leave the graffiti and unit ID’s in place. The new owner can decide if or how to remove them.

I got this helmet as a 1Lt. and never changed the rank, even as I got promoted and re-assigned. Felt it would have been bad luck.

Somewhere around 97-98 I must have also picked up a new cord assembly when I got the new liner, but never needed it so never opened the bag.

Helmet comes with its green helmet carrier bag. (Bag, Flyer’s Helmet. DLA 100-89-F-EC96). The bags been cleaned so it doesn’t smell. Some of the stitching has pulled away from the inside of the bag a bit and exterior Velcropocket closures have pulled away. (Which is typical). But snaps still work.
