RARE AND EXTREMELY ELEGANT GERMAN CHAIN MAIL BISHOPS MANTEL CIRCA 1550-80:Madewith the absolutely smallest riveted rings I have ever seen. There must be close to 100,000 rings all made and rivet by hand. A grain of rice can barley fit inside the ring, truly the work of a master armorer. It has all of the original brass rings at the top of the neck and edges. Bishops Mantels were used in conjunction with helmets to protect the neck. You won\'t find a better one.
Real European Mail is actually quite rare. The vast majority sold at sale or on the internet are Indo/Persian and NOT European. A Bishops Mantel is much rarer than a mail shirt. When was the last time you saw one offered at sale.
