LATE VIETNAM 1975 SDU - 5/E LIGHT, MARKER, DISTRESS w/ POUCH & DEAD BATT FROZEN. I have been unable to unscrew the battery, and the device is inoperable at the present time. The orange plastic case is pitted externally, and when found appeared to have been stored within the OD nylon pouch long term. There is an unknown type residue inside and outside of the pouch; I have not tried to launder it, but it cleaned up some after I used a wire brush (see last photo). The pouch is able to lace onto web gear or aircrew harness or survival vest. Production of this type light continued into 1990; I do not know whether it was made later than that. I have seen this type light carried by amphibious Recon team members (Marines & SEALs) but the white retention cord indicates that this particular light was probably used in aircrew survival.
