These items once belonged to Charles E. Spellman who was born in West Granville, Massachusetts, and enlisted in the 10th Regiment on June 21, 1861, at the age of 18. He re-enlisted on December 20, 1863, and received a $536.66 bounty from Long Meadow, Mass., transfer to 37th Regiment Company K on June 18, 1864. On June 21, 1865, he was transferred to the 20th Regiment Company K and was discharged on July 16, 1865.
