S. Midgett Gold Lifesaving Medal Of Honor Act of Congress June 1974 Rare Antique
Rasmus S. Midgett (1861-1926) was a United States Service surfman in North Carolina who single handedly rescued ten men from the sinking barkentine Priscilla and was therefore awarded the Gold Lifesaving Medal of Honor from the Secretary of the Treasury on Oct 18, 1899. A certain number of these two ounce medals were made in 1899 to commemorate the act of heroism. You can read all about the incident and the medal of honor and it\'s current monetary value by looking it up on the internet. It comes in a case with a print out of the history behind the medal.
