This sale if for a 100% original World War Two 101st Airborne reinforced M1942 jump jacket. This was purchased from an officer of F Company, 506 PIR, 101st Airborne Division. It is not named to him, but the inside has the name and serial number of another member of F Company 506 PIR stenciled inside. It is in nice shape, showing some use. There are a few stains, some light soiling, and some wear, but still nice. All three zippers work. The main zipper is a Crown, the two smaller zippers are Serval. There is a half inch tear where the collar meets the body of the jacket. It measures about 20 inches from armpit to armpit, about 24.5 inches from the sleeve cuff to where the sleeve meets that body of the jacket, and the back measures 30.5 inches from the bottom to where the body meets the collar.
This jacket is part a larger grouping that all belonged to a Fox Company officer that joined the Company in June 1944. I have listed the other items that belonged to him in three other sales. He fought with the 101st from Operation Market Garden through the end of the war. He was a platoon leader. He wrote a book describing his experiences during the war.
This veteran asked me to keep his name private, he did not want himself or his family to be bothered by people, I am going to respect his wishes and I am not going to share his identity in the sale listing. If you are seriously interested purchasing this and we are both in the same ball park of value, contact me via email and we can talk about the identity of the veteran. I can also provide a photo of the name stenciled inside the jacket.
Please not that although I have listed this group in 4 separate sales, I would really like to keep this grouping together. I am willing to work with a potential buyer to keep it all together. I have listed it separately because only allows 12 photos per sale, and that is not enough to adequately picture all the items in this group. So I separated out three of the items that I think require a number of pictures to adequately represent them because of their high value and listed them in three separate sales. The bulk of the items, including almost all of the stuff named to him, are listed in the fourth sale.
