WWII US Original M2 Paratrooper Helmet Rare Airborne D-Loop w/ Inland Liner:
$10500.00

All right, back in the display case. Hope y\'all enjoyed the show. Anyone interested, contact me and we can talk. This is a original WWII Paratrooper M2 D Bail/Bale/Loop helmet with Inland liner and scrim net. This has been the centerpiece of my collection for some time, but now it is time to move it along.Shell: The shell is a M2. Right up front, one of the bales has been braze fixed which is common with these. The outer surface shows usage signs, some paint chipped and minor light rust in spots. It sports a large square net with camouflage scrim which shows its age. It appears that over the years, a couple pieces have been lost. These nets are rare and hard to find, let alone on a M2. The heat stamp on this helmet is 230C indicating 1942. The chinstraps are in very good condition with some minor wear on the brass blacking, but nothing significant. It has the correct brass J catch. The snaps are the correct nickle plated type.Liner: The liner is an inland with a stamp of 18. The outer surface has the light flat green and there are no cracks in the shell. The liner has the standard OD3 Khaki webbing with a No. 3 nape. The headband is the original with the wire keepers made by AM Stay Co. The leather is showing signs of drying. When I received this helmet, I treated the leather with micro-crystalline museum grade wax. I did he same to the chinstrap which is still intact. I do not place the leather chinstrap over the steel shell to help preserve it, so in the pictures, you see it under the steel pot. The A-yokes are in great condition, the pictures appear to show the ends of the cross pieces more frayed than they are. The buckles are the correct black wire and are showing some signs of rust, mostly inside the middle keeper. The paint is worn off about %25 on one and %50 on the other. The leather chin cup is the correct chamois lined version in excellent condition. I have a dozen more pictures but will not allow more than 12, so if you want to see more, I will send them. If you want an angle that I don\'t have, ask and I will take it for you. I want you convinced that you know everything you need to know about this helmet before you purchase it. I have been the proud owner of this helmet for six years after getting it from the previous owner that had it almost 20 years before passing away. Someone in his family did not think it important to keep the little pieces of paper that told the history, so that has been lost. The previous owner was a Navy UDT in Vietnam and his collection was expansive and he had nothing cheap. Serious questions are welcomed. However, I don\'t need any history lessons or critical evaluations by tire kickers. I know what I have and I am aware of exactly what I am asking for this helmet. I know other helmets can and have been had for cheaper and good for those people. I do not have to sell this helmet as it will go back in as the centerpiece of my collection if it does not move. I know that the moment that the postal employee takes it across the counter, I will instantly regret doing this, but I have my reasons. If you know what this is and have the money to pay for it, I guarantee you will not be let down.Shipping: I have a hard plastic aircraft part transport box that this helmet will be shipped in, so shipping will be a little more expensive than normal, but I guarantee the shipping cost will be made up in the value of the box it is shipped in. Because of the value of this helmet, shipping will include insurance for yours and my protection. International shipping will need to be arranged and insurance is an absolutely must. That means shipping will be steap for this buy.
